Adelaide has seascapes with the most beautiful coastal views, all within a short drive from the city.
Typically, Adelaide gets forgotten about with the beautiful beaches thanks to Sydney having some of the most popular ones. But that doesn’t mean Adelaide doesn’t have some great spots to go to for a beach day over the weekend where you can surf or chill out on the sand!
1. Glenelg Beach
Glenelg Beach is one of the most popular beaches in Adelaide, and it is one of the closest too! This beach is great for those who want to spend some time walking along the beach or find some shade and read a book.
2. Christies Beach
Christies Beach is a short drive from the city and is the perfect place for those who want to learn how to surf. There aren’t much great waves here, but it is perfect for those who are beginners!
Around the holidays there are usually surf schools who’ll come here for some practice.
3. Seaford Beach
Already a pro at surfing? Then Seaford Beach is where you want to go for some great waves to catch for most of the year. You’ll find there are often waves that are around five to eight foot high!
This beach can get busy, but it’s all part of the experience and fun having a busier beach to walk along or to go surfing at.
4. West Beach
West Beach is a beautiful beach with an added bonus, it is generally a lot more quieter than the surrounding beaches nearby. Plus, it’s also a short drive from the city too! This is a great beach to come to with the family or to rewind and read a book.
5. Henley Beach
Henley Beach is perfect to watch the sunset at and is also another close beach to the city. It’s even perfect for the locals to come by after work and go for a quick swim in the sea or to go for a jog around the esplanade.
While the sun sets, you can grab some fish and chips and eat on the beach, or find a nearby restaurant with views of the ocean.
